Nursery Childcare Worker
Job Title: Nursery Childcare Worker
Reports To: Next Generation Nursery Coordinator
Job Status: Part-Time, Hourly
Position Summary: The Nursery Childcare Worker will provide childcare for birth through 12 years of age during WOC services, meetings and other Church activities.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain a helpful, positive attitude, atmosphere and relationship with children, parents, other staff and church volunteers. The Childcare Worker’s primary duty is to ensure the safety and happiness of the child while the parent is participating in church activities.
- Participate in all curriculum-planned activities with volunteers and conduct activities on your own when no volunteers are present.
- Represent the church to the parents and children in a positive, professional manner.
- Keep attention on the children. Interact positively with them at all times (i.e. rocking, playing, reading, talking, singing, etc.).
- Follow all policies and procedures outlined by the church.
- Check diapers regularly and change at least once each time the child is in the nursery.
- Feed snack to children 16 months or older and/ or bottle-feed infants if necessary.
- Other duties as may be assigned
Job Skills & Requirements
- Knowledge of infant and toddler characteristics is preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Communicate effectively both verbal and written
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, get up and down on the floor, stand on your feet and carry babies for several minutes at a time, flexibility to handle small babies comfortably, ability to move quickly in the event a child is in danger, and to multi-task (including comforting two babies at a time).
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality of information as appropriate
- Willingness to contribute to a harmonious team effort
