I'm New

Whether you’re curious about God, or you’ve been following Him your entire life, there’s a place for you at World Outreach Church. Come as you are and find your place in our community. Hear the Truth of God spoken in a way that makes sense. Worship wholeheartedly. Be refreshed and renewed. Serve, and be encouraged by those who are on the same journey toward Christ.

Church is simply a body of people united around their pursuit of Jesus as Lord. It’s far beyond being defined by any building. It’s you—in your pursuit of God’s truth—joined with fellow believers in determined obedience to impact the world around you with the love of Christ.

Our regular weekly service times are Wednesdays at 6:30pm, Saturdays at 6:00pm, and Sundays at 9:30am (CT).

What To Expect At WOC

Going to a new place can be intimidating. Here’s what you’ll find when you come to church:

At all the entrances, we have people with nametags ready to greet you and show you where to go. Our services include time worshipping God, prayer, and biblical teaching, and we have Children’s Ministry programs available at all services as well.

Dress ranges from casual to ā€œSunday bestā€ā€”wear whatever is comfortable for you!

If you have any questions or need special accommodations, visit our Welcome Center in the Three Crosses Lobby, located just outside Three Crosses Sanctuary on the far west side of the building. You will find staff and volunteers waiting to help. We also have a special gift for our first-time guests!

Who We Are

The Church

As an interdenominational congregation, World Outreach Church focuses on the beliefs that unite all Christians and is in the mainstream of the historic Christian faith. The Apostles’ Creed frames our statement of belief.

  • We believe that every believer is a minister, and we strive to help every person discover, develop, and use their talents in ministry.
  • It is our commitment to major on the major doctrines, while minoring on the minors: ā€œIn essentials unity, in non-essentials diversity, in all things charity.ā€
  • We strive for excellence in every area of ministry.
  • The Apostles' Creed: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of Heaven and Earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into Hades; the third day He rose again from the dead: He ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Our Statement Of Purpose

  • Attracting and leading the unsaved to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Encouraging Christians to consecrate themselves to God’s purpose in their lives.
  • Providing a climate in which worship and personal spiritual growth occur.
  • Equipping believers for effective ministry to reach the Murfreesboro area and the whole earth.

Our Beliefs

We believe the Bible is the foundation for both our faith and practice. In addition to the Apostles’ Creed, we believe:

  • The Bible is God’s unique revelation to people. It is the inspired Word of God, providing an authoritative and trustworthy rule of faith and practice.
  • There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus Christ is God’s Son. He was born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, willingly took upon Himself all our sins, died and rose again bodily, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will return one day to consummate history and to fulfill the eternal plan of God.
  • All people are created in God’s image, having an innate value and dignity, but alienated from God by sin and justly subject to God’s wrath.
  • Salvation cannot be earned through personal goodness or human effort. It is a gift that must be received by humble repentance and faith in Christ and His finished work on the cross.
  • The indwelling presence and transforming power of the Holy Spirit gives all believers a new life and a new calling to obedient service.
  • All believers are members of the Body of Christ, the one true Church universal.

Our Vision

Our Vision is for World Outreach Church to be a transforming place for people—across our community, throughout Middle Tennessee, and around the Earth.

We believe that a relationship with God is the greatest opportunity ever extended to a person. Our experience as Christ-followers should be liberating and hope-filled.

  • We’re committed to leadership development. We place a high priority on the recruitment, equipping, and involvement of lay ministry.
  • We maintain a caring, nurturing atmosphere.
  • We depend upon the direction and anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Water Baptism

According to the Bible, all believers should be baptized in water, just like Jesus Himself. To be eligible for baptism in water, all you need to do is believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and make a commitment to follow Him.

Baptism doesn’t make someone a Christian. Baptism shows they already are one; it is a public declaration they have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives.

We include water baptism as part of our outdoor Spring and Fall Worship Festivals, with an above-ground pool available for baptisms after every Saturday evening worship service. Registrations for baptisms are taken online. Individuals, couples, and families may be baptized together. Contact us for additional information.

Our policy is to wait to baptize children until they are at least eight years old or in 3rd grade. We want young children to understand what baptism means—they have decided to make Jesus Christ Lord of their lives—and they are old enough to have a clear memory of being baptized when they are an adult. Water baptism and its significance are included in our 2nd grade Children’s Ministry curriculum.

Giving

Giving is a form of worship, as much as making music, singing, or anything else. Tithing isn’t about maintaining church budgets or projects; it’s an expression of faith that brings transformation to our lives.

We are in a season of change, and trusting the Lord for our future is a fundamental principle we need to put into practice. Learning to give—and to give with freedom and a spirit of generosity—helps develop that trust. After all, God is the One who provides all things in our lives. When we express our gratitude to Him by giving to His Church and His Kingdom purposes, it builds a quiet, steady confidence in His faithfulness—even when challenges and turmoil escalate. As a congregation, we have come to recognize the great joy of presenting both our lives and our resources as gifts to the Lord, and the return is miracle story after miracle story.

Next Steps

No matter where you are on your journey, God is inviting you to take the next step of faith. Our willingness to respond to His invitations will change our lives, our church, our community, and our world.

Our Story

People visiting our church today may think we’ve always been a large church, but our story began in the simplest setting: a 1970s Bible study, hosted in the home of Dr. George and Betty Jackson.

On Easter Sunday in 1980, the Jacksons decided to rent a meeting space at a hotel in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where they celebrated Easter with 29 people — the first meeting of World Outreach Church!

In 1981, the Jacksons purchased 28 acres for the fledgling church, including the land where Genesis Sanctuary stands today.

In 1989, the Jacksons’ son, Allen, became senior pastor, and he’s been serving in that role ever since.

Throughout the 1990s, the church made minor renovations to the facility so they could accommodate the congregation’s growth. In 1998, a 22,000-square-foot addition was completed, which included a large meeting and gathering area, and new classrooms.

In 2000, 155 acres of land were purchased to build Leadership Park, a youth initiative emphasizing leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and character development. This property includes a ropes course, softball fields, and initiative game trails. In addition to serving our youth ministries, Leadership Park is also utilized by community organizations in the area.

In 2001, World Outreach Church constructed an additional worship center, which included 60,000 square feet of both indoor and porch space, allowing people to come together for worship services and special programs in new venues. Today, you would recognize this area as All Nations Sanctuary, New Harvest Sanctuary, and the courtyard.

In 2007, the church broke ground on yet another addition: a 2,700-person sanctuary and 125,000 feet of new space for the growing ministry. Despite the recession of 2008, God’s faithfulness allowed us to complete the expansion, giving us the ability to begin broadcasting our services on television. Today, our media ministry, Allen Jackson Ministries, shares our messages online, on 850+ radio stations, and on a variety of television networks, offering God’s hope and truth to people across the nation.

Our current congregation includes about 15,000 people who call World Outreach Church their home church. Though many comment on our large size, we believe we are just getting started. With Middle Tennessee experiencing rapid growth, we look forward to welcoming more people into our church family, helping them to become more fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ as we follow God in new ways.

In 2023 our church community said ā€œYesā€ to the Lord’s invitation and took a significant step forward in faith to raise funds to build an extension of our existing facilities and provide more intentional ways to serve our congregation—locally and around the world. The Lord has honored those expressions of generosity, and we have made significant strides toward our campus expansion since then. This initiative is called, ā€œSanctuary of Scripture: The Walk Way,ā€ and it includes an improved roadway, additional parking, an outdoor amphitheater, splash pad, and learning gallery—all with the original goal of helping others find relationship with Jesus while serving our community.

This updated configuration maintains an improved roadway, additional parking, an outdoor amphitheater, splash pad, and learning gallery — all with the original goal of helping others find relationship with Jesus while serving our community.

World Outreach Church has experienced many changes in facilities and programs over the years, but through all those changes, our values have remained the same: a desire to experience God more fully in our lives, the belief that a relationship with Jesus Christ is transforming, a commitment to children and young people, and a desire to be a valuable participant in our community.

When we think back to those early years, we remember standing in a tent in the empty fields, imagining a ministry that would be vital to our community, and maybe even the world. The Spirit of God has led us far beyond our imaginations, and we believe we are still at the beginning of the journey. We are depending on the Lord our God for each step of the way, and we will not stop!
